A SEA of colourful saris will line Liverpool's George Street on Saturday night as part of Starry Sari Night, a celebration of Indian culture.
There will be something for everyone, including the screening of a Bollywood film [Om Shanti Om], dance workshops and food stalls.
Miss India Australia 2013, Zenia Starr, will make a guest appearance, as well Bollywood Star, G-LuV.
Australian Indian film director, actor, producer and author, Anupam Sharma, will host the event, while Kumud Merani from SBS Radio will also attend.
Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun said the event was highly anticipated.
"There's been a bit of a buzz in the atmosphere," he said.
"It's the first time we're closing down the street for this event, so it's really exciting."
Councillor Mannoun said he hoped the festival would serve as the first of many events for the city centre.
"Starry Sari Night aims to bring everyone in Liverpool and their families together to celebrate George Street's unique character as well as enjoy a thrilling night of Bollywood entertainment," he said.
"We need a lot more night-time activities in Liverpool as people should have some fun and get to go out.
"It's a beautiful and vibrant community in George Street."
The festival is free and will be held on Saturday, from 4pm-9pm. It is a drug and alcohol-free event.
