Big Ingham raceday at Warwick Farm

By Paul Haigh

Liverpool’s community groups and businesses are coming together to support the Ingham Research Institute with a fundraising event at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Thursday, March 21, at noon.

The Australia Turf Club meeting will also feature top class thoroughbred racing.

Liverpool Chamber of Commerce president Harry Hunt said Liverpool Rotary, Liverpool-West Rotary and Green Valley Rotary are supporting the day.

Tickets are $70 each and Mr Hunt said there are a limited number of races available to be sponsored.

‘‘This is our second annual fundraiser held at Warwick Farm, as last year we raised more than $20,000 for the Eggtober Foundation,’’ Mr Hunt said.

‘‘This year we decided to support the Ingham Institute.’’

The Eggtober Foundation was established by Liverpool Hospital’s Dr Felix Chan, a leading Gynaecological Oncology specialist.

‘‘We hope to surpass the amount we raised last year,’’ Mr Hunt said.

‘‘It’s terrific opportunity for the community and business groups to raise money and also enjoy a day at the races.’’

Professor Michael Barton OAM is the Ingham Institute Research Director.

He is the guest speaker at the luncheon.

Silent auctions and raffles will also be held to fundraise.
