LIVERPOOL policeman and former Bulldogs NRL player Mitch Newton is hoping to put bite back into Camden Rugby League Football Club in the Group 6 competition this year.
Taking over the first grade coaching role from outgoing coach Mark De Ubago, Newton will be assisted by his former Bulldogs teammate Brent Sherwin. Newton played 106 first grade games for the Bulldogs.
Newton, 44, who has a strong bond with the Rams, returns to the club he was part of when it won its last premiership in 2002.
Although his NRL playing days finished more than 10 years ago, Newton refused to rule out pulling on the tricolour jersey of the Rams.
"I'd never say never, but I don't think I'm up to it," he said.
"But if it came down to having to play someone with a poor attitude then I'd put the boots on."
