Sandhu takes five wickets for NSW on debut

Fairfield Liverpool fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu has become the 28th bowler to take five wickets on debut for NSW in the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, today, Thursday. Sandhu took 5-31 from 11 overs.

The 19 year-old becomes the eighth youngest bowler in the history of the state to achieve the feat, and the first since Trent Copeland took 8-92 for NSW against Queensland in 2010.

Sandhu has also played for the Australian under-19s team and been pressing strongly for selection in the NSW team. So far this season, playing for Fairfield Liverpool, Sandhu has taken 33 wickets in first grade.

Fairfield Liverpool teammate, Ben Rohrer is captaining the NSW side.
