Tips for learner drivers

Liverpool Council in partnership with the Roads and Maritime Services will hold a free workshop for parents and supervisors of learner drivers. The two-hour course will offer parents and supervisors practical advice on how to provide the most effective driving practice for learner drivers. Bookings are essential. Valley venue for movies

The venue for the open-air cinema event scheduled for Saturday, February 23 has changed from Greenway Park, West Hoxton to Winnal Reserve, on the corner of Whitford Road and Falcon Circuit in Green Valley. The event will start at 5pm. Movies will start screening from sunset and the event will finish at 10pm. There will be free rides, entertainment, food stalls, craft activities, face painting and roving characters for people of all ages to enjoy. The family-friendly movies that will screen are Disney's Geek Charming and The Sapphires. These events are strictly drug and alcohol free. Bad weather may result in cancellation. Have your say on zoning

Liverpool Council has invited residents to provide feedback on its updated Draft Rural Lands Study 2012. The study is a broad strategic document outlining development opportunities and constraints across Liverpool's rural lands, and also details the land use zones and planning provisions within the council's planning guidelines — the Liverpool Local Environmental Plan (LEP 2008) and Liverpool Development Control Plan (DCP 2008). A copy of the study, planning proposal, maps and other relevant documentation, including the council's resolution, is available for download at: liverpool.nsw.gov.au. The public exhibition period will end on April 10.

■Free fitness classes

■A night under the stars: A open air cinema screening will be held at Winnal Reserve, corner of Whitford Road and Falcon Circuit, Green Valley on Saturday, February 23 at 5pm. The event will include two family-friendly movies as well as carnival rides, activities, entertainment and food stalls throughout the park. This is a drug and alcohol-free event. ■Carers needed

 University of Western Sydney research office is looking for carers of cancer patients to talk about their experience for a new project. The Caring at End of Life research project is part of a new study by UWS, to find out what happens when family and friends help each other when someone is dying at home.
