Nurse's job not a major trauma

THE opportunity to work at one of Sydney's leading trauma hospitals was a dream come true for Ella Gamble.

The Wattle Grove resident will be one of the 39 graduate nurses who will start their careers at Liverpool Hospital.

Ms Gamble, who studied at the University of Sydney, left her life in Victoria to study and pursue a career in nursing.

"There's heaps of opportunities to move up here," she said.

"I have an interest in trauma, and when I was researching hospitals, Liverpool came up as a major level one in trauma care. It had such great opportunities to learn and grow."

She also spent her first work placement at the hospital and would recommend the facility to medical students.

"I started my first placement in the respiratory ward," she said. "The nurses were lovely and approachable, and all of the educators were great and inviting.

"It's a fantastic hospital. The facilities are amazing.

"It's great for students or anyone thinking about studying nursing or getting into the health industry."

Liverpool Hospital's general manager Anthony Schembri welcomed the graduate nurses alongside Menai MP Melanie Gibbons and community members last week.
