Sides get set for the new comp

BONNYRIGG White Eagles, Sydney United 58 FC and Marconi Stallions are entered in this year's NSW Elite 1 Premier League season, which starts on Sunday, March 24.

Before next month's kick-off, Bonnyrigg White Eagles, Sydney United 58 FC and Marconi Stallions, are playing in the five-week Pre-Season Cup which started on Saturday.

The round-robin competition runs until Sunday, March 10, with the top side from each of the two pools playing in the final.

Sydney United 58 FC have signed goalkeeper Liam Reddy for this season. The 31-year-old played with Sydney United 58 in 2003-5 and also had stints with Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar, Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix in the A-League.

Sydney United 58 coach Mark Rudan said Reddy was their first choice.

Rudan, now 37, is a former player top player with Sydney FC and also he spent seven seasons at Sydney United 58 between 1993-98 and he also played for the national under-20 and under-23 teams.

In Super League news, Mounties Wanderers are the local team in the competition, which starts Sunday, March 24.

The Football NSW Super League is the second-tier competition to the Elite 1 Premier League.
