IT'S a case of two heads that may prove better than one.
It's almost American football season again for the West Sydney Trojans team in the Gridiron NSW colts championship and Prestons brothers Josh and Michael Head intend to be among the leading players.
They are getting set for their second season in the Trojans' under-20s team, the junior arm for the senior club, West Sydney Pirates. The Pirates recently finished the 2012 season reaching the play-offs in the competition that runs from September to December.
The Trojans season runs from late February until early May.
Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Craik Park, Austral at 7pm.
The Pirates top quarterback David Ward, who has played for Australia, is back in charge of the Trojans again this season.
Josh, 18, is a running back and linebacker. In rugby league he plays hooker at the Arncliffe Scots Junior Rugby League in the St George Junior Rugby League.
Michael, 16, is a receiver and defensive back. He also plays hooker but with the Liverpool Catholic Club in the Western Suburbs Junior Rugby League.
"Josh is very quick and elusive," Ward said.
"He has a thirst to learn."
Ward also praised Michael's skills.
"Michael is very keen, he's fast enough, not as quick as Michael, but is very football smart," Ward said.
Both Josh and Michael come from rugby league backgrounds which has prepared them for the physicality of American football.
"It's good that we are playing together," Michael said.
Josh said playing alongside his young brother is a terrific experience and they want to do well for the Trojans this season and perhaps even win a title together.
"We enjoy playing at the Trojans and also learning a lot from our coach David Ward," Josh Head said.
