DJANGO Unchained follows the story of a Mississippi slave’s fight for freedom and his journey to save his beloved wife from a cruel tobacco plantation owner.
Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, the film has been nominated for five Academy Awards.
In 1858, a group of male slaves are being transported after being purchased by the Speck brothers at an auction.
While travelling, they are approached by German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) who kills one of the Speck brothers and frees the slaves.
Django (Jamie Foxx) a slave, was taken away from his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).
Schultz spots Django in the group and tells him that he needs his help to identify the Brittle brothers, a trio of killers working for a tobacco plantation owner.
They come to an agreement, and in exchange for helping locate the Brittle brothers, Schultz will free Django from slavery and give him $75 dollars and a horse.
After the Brittle brothers are killed, Schultz takes on Django and they become partners.
They find out that Broomhilda’s new owner is the brutal and racist plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
He trains his slaves to fight to the death (Mandingo fighting) at his property called Candyland.
Schultz and Django devise a plan to rescue Broomhilda by pretending to be buyers of a Mandingo fighters.
