Costco gets zoning OK for Casula

THE opening of Costco at The Crossroads in Casula could be sooner than we think.

Zoning changes to the Liverpool Local Environment Plan which will allow for the development of the Costco Warehouse have now been approved.

Liverpool Council and the state government jointly approved the amendment to rezone the site for the development which will cost more than $40 million.

Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun said the development application could now move on to the final phase of determination before construction begins.

"The Costco development application will be sent to the Joint Regional Planning Panel for final determination as it is a regionally significant development," he said.

"Liverpool has extensive investment opportunities and this type of development reinforces our status as a key regional city. "

Costco proposes to develop a 14,000-square-metre store which is projected to attract more than 670,000 shoppers each year.
