THIS is 40 is an American comedy about a husband and wife facing a midlife crisis as they deal with their kids growing up, their 40th birthdays and a baby along the way.
The film, written, co-produced and directed by Judd Apatow, focuses on the married lives of couple Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann).
The couple were introduced in Apatow's Knocked Up.
A few years later, Pete and Debbie are still together and are still driving each other nuts.
They live in Los Angeles with their two kids, Sadie and Charlotte (Apatow's kids, Maude and Iris).
Debbie owns a boutique with employees Desi (Megan Fox) and Jodi (Charlyne Yi) and Pete owns a struggling record label business.
Pete and Debbie aren't sure they love each other any more.
They avoid each other and hide their bad habits from one another.
But, at the same time they know they love each other, because of their kids and life together.
The pair are facing financial hardships as a result of Pete handing out money to his father.
Meanwhile their two daughters are constantly fighting and arguing.
Pete embraces his birthday; Debbie refuses to believe she's turning 40 and is convinced she's still 38.
The couple whisk off to a resort for a weekend to celebrate their birthdays and work through their problems.
They come back to find out a couple weeks later that Debbie is pregnant.
