FORMER Test fast bowler Doug Bollinger returned to play for Fairfield Liverpool at Rosedale Oval on Saturday. The paceman grabbed a wicket against Gordon and was the second top-scorer with the bat.
The Lions batted first and made a moderate 161 from 63 overs. They had also former NSW batsman Ben Rohrer back in the line-up after his duties with Melbourne Renegades is the Big Bash. Rohrer made just eight runs.
Bollinger scored 18, second highest to teammate Mitch Williams who defied Gordon's bowlers for 235 minutes, scoring a gritty 94 from 182 balls.
Left-arm bowler Bollinger has played only three games this season for the Lions because of NSW and Twenty20 commitments.
Williams held the innings together and got good support from Bollinger with the pair adding 70 for the eighth wicket partnership.
In reply, Gordon were in strife at 4-42 at stumps with right-arm speedster Gurinder Sandhu taking 3-23 with his lightning quick spell.
Play resumes on Saturday at Rosedale Oval at 10.30am.
