IT'S that time of year when Liverpool families will soon slip on their sneakers and exchange their beds for sleeping bags.
The Liverpool Relay for Life will be held at Hillier Oval on March 23 to raise money for cancer research.
Registered groups will spend 24 hours walking around the 400-metre track.
Relay chairwoman Signe Westerberg said there would be entertainment all day, food stalls, raffle tickets, a barbecue and plenty of activities for the children.
"The event is a way to bring the community together for a very good cause in a very relaxed way," Ms Westerberg said, adding the aim was to exceed last year's figure of $50,000.
"We're hoping to get 20 teams involved in it this year.
"It's fun and it's a great way to have a great weekend and meet new people.
"It also gives people the chance to remember someone and support someone living with cancer, as well as preventing it from happening to anyone else."
One in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.
