Two women attacked at Holsworthy

A 37-week-old pregnant woman was pushed to the ground and kicked in the stomach during a robbery at Holsworthy train station yesterday.

Police said Swati, 35, was with her 20-year-old niece, Shruti, when three men approached from behind and grabbed their handbags at 3.40pm.

Liverpool Local Area Command’s Superintendent Ray King said this was a ‘‘cowardly act’’ and an ‘‘appalling crime’’.

Swati said she was shocked and scared during the incident.

‘‘I was just concentrating on my tummy and protecting my baby,’’ she said.

‘‘I asked him not to stomp on my tummy and I even had my hand on it but he did it anyway.’’

She said she’s lived in the area for five years and ‘‘this has never happened before’’.

The two women were assaulted and robbed as they walked towards a pathway in Parkwood Parade.

After the incident, the three men ran towards the footbridge into a nearby bushland.

The pregnant woman was taken to hospital where she was assessed and treated.

The other woman was not injured.

The men are described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, one wearing a green hooded jacket and another wearing a red hooded jacket.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
