CECIL Hills resident Melvin Bautista was one of the competitors who lit up the stage in the Junior Justice Crew competition recently.
The 15-year-old Freeman College student took part in the dance contest held at Event's Cinemas at Liverpool Westfield, on Wednesday.
The self-taught freestyle dancer said he thought the event was a good opportunity to showcase his skills in front of one of his favourite dance groups.
"I wanted to show them what I've got," he said.
"Dancing is a way of expressing my emotions and it's kept me out of trouble.
"Justice Crew are good performers, they are my idols."
The competition was open to 13 to 17 years old.
The 14 competitors were required to dance freestyle to a Justice Crew song for one minute.
The prize for the winners was the chance to strut their stuff alongside Justice Crew in their next film clip.
To get the young performers in the mood, Justice Crew opened the competition.
