THE grinding off-season training will be put to the test for the first time this season when Wests Tigers step out against Parramatta in an NRL trial game at Bluetongue Stadium, Gosford, this Saturday, 7.30pm.
Wests Tigers have a big following on the central coast and have played many NRL premiership games at the venue over the years.
Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens will put his charges under the microscope against the Eels with a view to having them ready for the season opener against Cronulla on Sunday, March 4, at Leichhardt Oval, from 2pm.
Skipper Robbie Farah will lead the team in this Saturday's trial against the Eels.
Recruit Adam Blair is expected to start in the forwards. He played for the NRL All Stars along with his new teammate Benji Marshall in Saturday's 36-28 win over the Indigenous All Stars at Skilled Park, on the Gold Coast
¦The Tigers have another trial set down against the Sydney Roosters on Saturday, February 18, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium with a big crowd expected.
The annual trial against the Roosters has traditionally been played at the Sydney Football Stadium. But the Wests Tigers shifted the game to give its footy-starved Macarthur district supporter base an early taste.
Three trials will be played on the day: A NSW Cup game from at 3.30pm, between Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers and the Newtown Jets, followed by an under 20s clash between Wests Tigers at 5.45pm and first grade at 7.30pm. Tickets are now on sale for the trial at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
