Mounties offer pathway to NRL careers

08 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
THERE is only one thing more exciting than the prospect of Canberra Raiders superstars like Terry Campese pulling on the Mounties jersey, says Mounties coach Steve Ghosn.

"It's all about finding the next Campese — and there are plenty of them out there and now they have a pathway to the NRL," said Ghosn, who will take over the reigns of the Mounties NSW Cup feeder team of the Canberra Raiders.

Former Western Suburbs first grade coach Ghosn, or Gus as he is more commonly known, enters his sixth and most important year at Mounties.

Assistant coach Steve Antonelli and rugby league operations manager Steve Litvensky are also out to build a genuine pathway to the NRL.

"It's tremendous for the local community and for the juniors to know they might only be one step from the NRL and play with likely six or seven first graders every week," Ghosn said.

Potential players can contact 0458 730 299.
