LIVERPOOL boy Michael Clarke, who has graduated from promising junior to become Australian Test cricket captain, will speak in front of "a century" of guests" at next week's Fairfield Liverpool Cricket Association forum at Mounties.
The forum is aimed at delivering a clear pathway for talented young players and coaches in the sport.
Clarke, 30, is the "man of the moment" having skippered Australia to a 4-0 thumping of India in the recent Test series.
Clarke's Test batting deeds include averaging 49.65, scoring 19 centuries and 5909 runs in 80 Tests.
Since elevated from vice-captain to the top job 11 Tests ago, Clarke has scored five centuries.
The right-handed batsman also made a personal best 329 not out against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground followed by 210 against India at the Adelaide Oval.
As a junior, Clarke, played with Mounties at club level and also in various Fairfield Liverpool Cricket representative teams.
The association has appointed Neil D'Costa, Clarke's former coach and manager, as head of cricket coaching development.
D'Costa, who is the cricket NSW under 19s' coach, said he wanted to get "cricket back on top" in Liverpool and Fairfield.
"I'm glad to be involved with cricket again in the area and there is plenty of talent to work with but by the same token there is a lot of hard work to do," he said.
Association secretary Peter Moore said it was "terrific" to have Clarke as special guest and also Neil D'Costa working with them.
"We can't thank Michael enough for coming along to the forum," Moore said.
