BUILD it and they will come.
That was the theme for the newly-opened Football Academy Australia headquarters at Nineveh Stadium, Bonnyrigg, on Sunday.
Truckloads of kids turned out in their favourite soccer shirts, ready to take part in a variety of coaching drills and games under the watchful eyes of coaching staff.
Football Academy Australia operations manager and Casula resident, Michael Di Condio, said they were thrilled with the opening.
``The academy represents an exciting development for football and the youth of south-west Sydney,'' Di Condio said.
``There are two programs designed to cater for players of all skill levels.''
Di Condio said technical director Leo Carle would determine the most suitable path for players.
``The FAA is for boys and girls aged between five and 18 and the players are evaluated by the coaching staff and put on a pathway for their development,'' Di Condio said.
``Our aim is to be the premier football academy in Australia.''
The academy's facilities include a learning centre where the players and their parents are taken through a program which includes sports nutrition, injury management and prevention, physical screening, athletic testing, law and order, drugs and alcohol education, sports psychology and player management.
Evaluation programs start at Nineveh Stadium on Monday, November 23 at 5pm.
The academy also runs programs at Ron Darcy Oval, Miller, on Mondays and Fridays, from 6pm. Details: 1300442433.
