LIVERPOOL Catholic Club's ice skaters have glided to success in top competition.
They recently returned from the Australian Figure Skating Championships in Brisbane.
Leading the way was Elle Montgomery and her dance partner Cameron Ord with the pair runners-up in the primary ice dance category after top performances in the European waltz, fourteen step and free dance categories.
Liverpool Catholic Club figure and synchronised skating competition co-ordinator Gail Montgomery said all skaters worked hard in training preparing for the nationals.
"They all did very well and all the coaches are proud of their results," Montgomery said.
Other skaters to win medals at the nationals were Diana Pham who came third in the intermediate women's category.
Eman-Noel Donaire was second in the intermediate men's category.
The club also had several other skaters who were part of the Synchro Saints team which was third in the open synchronised skating category and the club's Sync On Ice team was fifth in the adults synchronised category.
Montgomery said the students were excited to make the nationals.
"The skaters all worked very hard to do well in all programs," she said.
She said the next big event coming up for the skaters was the annual Hollands Trophy in June at Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink.
"Our students are training and working on new programs leading up to this event," she said.
The club also runs the artistic program where students can dance to Disney music and interpret Disney characters and also the Aussie Skate program for beginners.
The artistic and Aussie skate programs are for students wanting to have fun and fitness or aiming to compete at competition levels.
"All students are welcome to join the team and attend classes once a week," Montgomery said.
