THE Liverpool Youth Council knows what young people want. In celebration of Youth Week, it has organised Y Move Carnival this Saturday, April 4.
It will be held at St Luke’s Church, corner of Macquarie Mall and Elizabeth Street, from 2pm to 6pm. There will be free rides, sumo suits, airbrush tattooing, border security demonstrations, giveaways and music.
Rock groups Denham Reagh, A Bad Day’s Goodnight and various R’n’B groups will play and there’ll be cultural performances from Arabic, Pacific Island and Croatian groups.
The chairwoman of the Liverpool Youth Council, Nina Zawity, said the aim of the event was to get young people active in the community.
‘‘We wanted to organise a festival in Liverpool,’’ she said.
‘‘The theme is to make and move, take action and do something. We have so many active young people in Liverpool and this is a good opportunity for them to support their local youth community.’’
Liverpool Youth Council member Daniel Conifer said that the Y Move Carnival was going to be one of the best and biggest events organised for young people in Liverpool.
‘‘The carnival is a free event organised by young people
for young people,’’ he said.
The event is supported by the Liverpool Youth Council,
Liverpool Council and the NSW Government and sponsored by St George Bank.
