Police have charged two men after a man was shot and another assaulted during an altercation at Warwick Farm.
About 3pm yesterday, police and paramedics attended a unit complex on Lawrence Hargrave Road after receiving reports a man had been shot.
Liverpool Police said a 39-year-old man was approached by two men and an altercation occurred before they assaulted him, causing facial injuries.
The offenders then chased the man through the courtyard of the complex.
A 41-year-old man who came to the assistance of the victim was shot in the foot by one of the men who was armed with a handgun.
He was taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.
Two men were arrested at the scene and taken to Liverpool Police Station where they were questioned over the incident.
Meanwhile, a crime scene was established and a canvass of the surrounding neighbourhood undertaken.
A ballistics dog was also brought in to examine the area.
A 31-year-old Warwick Farm man was charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
A 31-year-old Prestons man was charged with causing grievous bodily harm; discharging a firearm; firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons/property and damaging property.
Both have been refused bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court today.
