Stabbing in car park

A man, 43, is in a stable condition in Liverpool Hospital after being stabbed in a parking station in Huckstepp Service Way, Liverpool, last week.

The man was stabbed several times about 9.10am on Wednesday.

Liverpool police officers said the man was in a serious condition when he was taken from the site, in Liverpool CBD, by ambulance.

He is believed to work in the CBD and live locally.

Liverpool police have released closed circuit television camera images (inset) of a man they would like to speak to about a carjacking in Liverpool.

The incident occurred about 9am on Monday, January 11.

Police say a woman, 47, had parked a black Honda CRV on the top level car park of Westfield Liverpool on Macquarie Street when she was approached by a man who demanded her car keys.

The man pushed the woman before getting in the vehicle and driving away. Police spotted the vehicle a short time later and pursued it, but had to terminate the chase. The vehicle has since been recovered.

The man police would like to interview in relation to these matters is described as being of white/European appearance, about 180centimetres tall, with a thin build.

Officers said that at the time of the incident he was wearing a green short-sleeved shirt and dark knee-length shorts and he was holding a dark-coloured plastic bag. Anyone with information can contact Liverpool police, 98218444 or Crime Stoppers, 1800333000.

Liverpool police are appealing for information over the death of an 81-year-old man who was hit by a prime mover travelling west along the Camden Valley Way at Edmondson Park about 10.15am on Friday.

The driver told police he saw an elderly man standing on the side of the road when he was approximately 150metres east of the Bringelly Road intersection. He said the man stepped from the kerb, forcing him to take evasive action.

However, the heavy vehicle was unable to stop in time.

Despite the efforts of emergency services personnel, the man died at the scene. Liverpool police are now investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident.

A man's skull was fractured after an assault in Liverpool on Saturday.

Liverpool police said a 45-year-old Liverpool man and a 41-year-old woman from Milperra were walking along Scott Street, Liverpool, at 1.50am when they were approached by a man described as being of Pacific Islander appearance who asked the pair for a cigarette, which they did not give him.

The pair said he then punched the man in the mouth, which caused him to fall backwards and hit his head on the concrete footpath.

He then punched the woman in the face. Both were taken to Liverpool Hospital.

The man sustained a fractured skull and a fracture to his eye socket and the woman suffered minor abrasions to her face and knees.

Police said the offender was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue T-shirt.

Officers said they would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or who knows anything about it.
