Man charged over home invasion at Mount Pritchard

08 Feb, 2012 09:06 AM
Police have charged a 23-year-old Wetherill Park man over a home invasion in Mount Pritchard.

About 1.00pm on Tuesday, police said two men forced their way into a home on Fiona Street.

Police were told a 50-year-old woman inside the house was confronted by the men, who were both armed with guns.

Police said the men demanded the woman hand over cash, but when she was unable to do so, the men allegedly stole other property from inside the premises.

Police arrived at the scene while the men were still inside and they fled from the back of the property.

The two police officers ran down and apprehended a 23-year-old man in nearby Govett Place, but the other man was not found.

The 23-year-old was taken to Cabramatta police station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence. The man was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today, Wednesday.

An investigation into the matter is continuing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
