ROSA Marciano is relieved the McDonald's near her home has withdrawn an application for 24-hours-a-day operating hours.
The Green Valley resident said she was surprised at the decision by McDonald's regarding the Bonnyrigg Heights outlet but thinks it may have been due to residents' complaints.
``They may put in the application again some time down the track,'' Mrs Marciano said.
``But the problems we've been having with the customers yelling, racing their cars, fighting and throwing rubbish everywhere are still going on and getting worse.
``The staff really need to do something about it, like introducing a security guard or not serving the more rowdy customers.''
Mrs Marciano said she and her neighbours had heard of several McDonald's restaurants in the area lodging applications for longer operating hours at the same time.
A McDonald's spokeswoman confirmed the application was withdrawn and said this would allow McDonald's to work with the community to further investigate matters raised by residents.
``We are focused on providing a safe and comfortable environment for our staff and customers, but also on being a good neighbour,'' she said.
She said staff would investigate the litter and safety concerns and work with police to try and solve the problems.
When asked whether McDonald's was applying to extend the operating hours of as many eateries as possible, the spokeswoman said applications were done by a case by case basis.
A Fairfield Council spokeswoman said the application was withdrawn by McDonald's on October 20.
She said an application for a Prairiewood McDonald's to operate 24 hours was refused before the withdrawal of the Bonnyrigg Heights one.
