CECIL Hills residents are still waiting to find out the fate of their lakes.
Landcom, who own the land surrounding the lakes, argue they are ``stormwater retention basins'' and said they may need to fill them in order to build a housing estate on the Lascelles Street block of land.
Landcom, along with Mirvac, who will be their partners in the housing estate, are working with Liverpool Council on a rezoning application for the area.
Resident Patrick Cotronea, representative of the Locals Against Killing our Eco System (LAKES) groups, protesting against the removal of the lakes, said residents still feel they aren't getting all the information on the process.
``We're still waiting to find out what the specific plans for the area are,'' Mr Cotronea said.
``The lake views were a big part of the reason we all moved here, but apart from that they are also a habitat for natural flora and fauna; what happens if they're filled in, where will those animals go?''
A Liverpool Council spokeswoman confirmed this week, that the council has received background reports from the firms for the rezoning process and the council's officers are currently assessing the information and awaiting more supporting details.
``The council has met with representatives of Mirvac and Landcom regarding development plans and background reporting to support the rezoning application,'' she said.
``The council's staff have also met with residents in the area.
``The community consultation process will offer further opportunities for residents to provide feedback on the proposed rezoning.''
When council receives the information it will consult with the State Government and put the proposal on public display.
