04 Nov, 2009 03:00 AM
LIVERPOOL police found 4.6kilograms of the drug ice and more than $80,000 in cash while investigating a suspicious house fire in Stansmore Place, Prestons, last Tuesday..

They arrested a 32-year-old man and charged him with supplying prohibited drugs.

The fire at about 1.30pm caused significant structural damage.

Police found a bag containing methylamphetamine (ice) with a street value of about $1 million and chemicals used to manufacture the drug, known as cutting agents.

Two detectives suffered a burning sensation to their eyes from the chemical agents in a cupboard and were treated by a doctor.

Both have returned to duty.

Chief Inspector Andy Richmond said the property may have been used to make the drugs but it was unclear due to fire damage.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court December 16.

Anyone with any information can call Liverpool police, 98218444 or Crime Stoppers 1800333000.
