THE heritage-listed buildings removed without permission in Bringelly contained asbestos, residents have alleged.
Sharon Conneally, whose property borders on the Overseas Telecommunications Commission radio receiving station site, said she was concerned about the contamination which could have occurred when an administration building and two water towers were removed.
``If they've disturbed that asbestos and it gets onto my property, I won't be happy,'' Ms Conneally said.
The site is currently owned by Citiwest Developments, which includes Leppington Pastoral Company.
A consultant for Leppington Pastoral Company, Laurie Rose, said there was asbestos in the main administration building on the site and quite a bit of it.
``But it was properly removed and audited by a professional engineering company,'' Mr Rose said.
``This was a former Telstra site and Leppington Pastoral are one of the minor owners and are currently running cattle on the site and providing maintenance.
``The heritage-listed cottages were removed by others prior to the purchase of the site by Citiwest.
``There is also a heritage listing of two water towers on the adjoining RAAF Communications site and I can advise that those tanks remain on the site. That site is not owned by Citiwest.''
A Liverpool Council spokeswoman said staff were continuing with their investigations into the removal of two heritage items at the site and could not comment until the investigations were finalised.
She said the council was not aware whether the buildings contained asbestos.
She said the removal of the heritage items was brought to the council's attention on May 18.
