NOT many people share the stage with Kylie Minogue.
However, former Chipping Norton and Cabramatta resident Daniel Slater has gone one better.
``I've performed with Kylie and Dannii Minogue,'' said Slater, 26.
``They're such outstanding performers and people I've looked up to.
``It ranks as one of the highlights of my career.''
Currently performing in the musical Chicago, which is playing to packed houses at the Lyric Theatre Star City, Slater is living his childhood fantasy.
``I've always wanted to perform on stage, whether it be dancing, acting or singing.
``When I finished school I was thinking about studying medicine or science but in the end I decided to follow my heart.''
And the decision paid off.
In the past nine years, Slater has performed in big stage productions, including We Will Rock You, Shout!, Fiddler on the Roof, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Mamma Mia! and as a dancer at the 2000 Olympics closing ceremony.
``I've been lucky so far to work with some great people,'' he said.
``Hopefully, I can continue performing in Australia and overseas.''
His stint in Chicago ends in August and he said his long-term goal was to secure a spot in West Side Story.
