The spirit of Barack Obama

Political persuasions aside one can only but be impressed with the intellect, passion, presence and oratory skills of the Senator from Chicago, Illinois, as he is about to take on the world's most thankless and difficult task and be promoted from President Elect to the number one man in the nation and the world. Since Obama was elected as the new head of government and leader of the Free World on November 4 last year I have watched countless documentaries and television pieces about his life and journey to the White House. What impresses me most about Obama is his zest and positive attitude despite knowing his new job will be full of road blocks, hurdles, long hours and difficulties. But that's what life is all about. Challenges, setbacks, joy, sadness, pain, suffering, glee, happiness, satisfaction to name a few emotions.Having the right attitude in life and learning to endure the tough times and relish and be humble during the good times is the trick in my book. The same can be applied to sport and the human emotions competitors and teams experience and go through in his or her or the teams' quest for success. In the Liverpool sporting community many indi viduals and teams which play summer and winter sports at a recreational, semi-professional or professional level experience the roller coaster ride of life. We can all learn a lot from the incoming US President Barack Obama.
